By 1969 "Speedwell" was a shadow of its former self. The rights for their range of tuning products, as well as the name of the company had been sold to a new owner with no direct connection with the original Speedwell organisation. This new incarnation of Speedwell was renamed "Speedwell of Chesham". The old Speedwell Centre had gone and the companies head office was now in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. While some of the range was still obviously based on original Speedwell designs and in some cases used original Speedwell tooling, the direction of the company was evident in the quality or should that be lack of quality of the items they produced.
