In September 2000 I decided that my next project would be a Mini Moke, not just any old Mini Moke, it had to be an English built Series 1 Mini Moke.
There were only 1500 built between 1964 and 1968 but after a bit of hunting I found “Just what I had been looking for”.
It was originally Spruce green, now painted white and as they would say nowadays it had all the trick bits. 4 seats, full weather gear and even a “boot” at the back. Oh yes this Moke had all the options and a bit more, including a 1300 engine.
I drove it back from Surrey a trip of about 200 miles and it went great, it cruised at 80 - 90 all the way and the only serious problem seemed to be it thirst for fuel, about 18 mpg.
Things did not remain rosy for two long. When I started stripping the Moke down I found more than a few horrors. The Moke had been botched beyond belief. It took over 2 years to complete all the stripping and rebuilding of the body.

his was eventually completed in the spring of 2002. Since then the Moke has had a number of different engines and is currently sporting an Alexander 7 port crossflow head that I also restored.
