Downton Badge

These are all examples of genuine Downton Rocker cover / boot badges. They were fitted to many of the cars fitted with Downton equipment throught the 60's. Although repros are being made nowadays, none of them are even vaguely like the real thing.

Downton Keyring.

Oh boy, am I pleased to be able to get to the bottom of this one. Here are some examples of original Downton key rings / fobs. once again very close to the repros but not really close enough to be confused once you have seen a real one. (Image courtesy of Ray Shepherd).

Ray Shepherds Exibitors Badges.

Ray Shepherd was one of the Richjmonds longest serving emlpoyees, for nearly 20 years he worked in various capacities, ending his days as foreman of the experimental department. To the left are a couple of the badges worn by Ray while representing Downton Engineering on their stand during the Racing Car Show.

Sean Wiles Exibitors Badge (Racing Car Show 1965).

During his time at Downton Sean Wiles was lucky enough to have been selected to man the Downton Stand at the Racing Car Show in 1965. Although during the day employees were expected to man the stand and tell visitors about the equipment on display. There was also some serious partying going on. The budget allowed by Daniel for drinks is reputed to be £200 per day. A phenomenal amount in 1965!
