Possibly one of the most striking Mini tuning accessories
ever produced, the Alexander H1 (1 1/8") conversion for the 848cc
Mini really "Looks" the part. The amazing thing about these tiny
little carbs is that they deliver too!

Although smaller than the standard fitment HS2 (1 1/4")
carb these carbs. when used in conjunction with this fantastic finned
manifold give a massive increase in both torque and power, just check
out the specifications on the last page.

Using the standard SU "Z" spring connections these carbs proved to be a real
go faster goody. As with the similar Downton units they were originally designed
for fitment to the small bore Austin Healey Sprites but proved just as successful
on the smallest of all Minis. There are a few Minis still in circulation that
are using this type of carb, either in conjunction with a larger 295 type
cylinder head or offset rockers. My personal preference is for the rockers
as using the 295 head can cause flat spots due to the comparatively large
size of the inlet valves compared to the ports and venturi of the carb. Retaining
the original 623, 850 cylinder head is also more "in keeping with the original
specification.
